If the third-country national intends to stay in Hungary for more than 3 months, he/she must submit an application for a residence permit. The purpose of entry and title of residence permit is most often gainful activity, employment, study, family reunification, investment, other purpose.
A national permanent residence permit may be issued to a third-country national:
A residence permit for other purposes may be issued to a third-country national who plans to stay in the territory of Hungary for a reason other than those specified in Sections 19–27 of the Act on the Admission and Right of Residence of Third-Country Nationals, and fulfils the requirements for the right of residence in Hungary in other respects. A residence permit for other purposes is most often linked to an investment or the purchase of real estate in Hungary.
